The Dunk Contest and the NBA Trade Deadline

NBA Dunk Contest

Our main man, Blake Griffin, took the 2011 contest after he pulled off a nice 360* jam in the first round, the Vince Carter Elbow Jam and much hyped final jam over the KIA with the choir singing "I Believe I Can Fly" in the background. The dunk contest was the most imaginative ever, here are our ratings:

Demar DeRozan- Fantastic performance. How many times can you remember a guy getting a 50 in the first round and not moving onto round 2? He would have advanced to the finals if his last name was Griffin. B+
Serge Ibaka- Guy jammed from the free throw line and got a 45--flat out robbery. I sensed some bitterness from Dr. J and others. His 2nd attempt with the doll would have been so much better if he would have made the first try. A-.
JaVale McGee- The two basket dunk would have been tremendous if he would have made one of the first ten attempts. The same thing with the 3-Ball Jam. He had nothing left for the finals and basically conceded to Griffin in the end. A-
Blake Griffin- I hope he comes back again next year, I want more out of him....really. He's a freak of nature and could easily do better. A

Conclusion: The NBA needs to go back to 2 or 3 dunk attempts per player. It's ridiculous watching a guy trying to dunk for two minutes. Please change that or change the scoring system reducing points earned for missed dunks.

NBA Trade Deadline

Done Deal: Denver sends Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups (plus 2 scrubs) to the NY Knicks for Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov and the Knicks’ 2014 first-round pick, and two second-round picks.
The Winners----The Denver Nuggets made out ridiculously. They got 4 young starters and picks for a guy that was gonna walk in a few months. Wow. The Cavs got nothing for Lebron and now they are the worst team in the NBA. The Nuggets rebuilt their team immediately and future got picks. Carmelo Anthony will prosper financially and in the fantasy world. Billups should also benefit by playing in Mike D'Antoni's high octane offense.

The Losers----The Knicks were really bidding against themselves (Anthony was never going to sign with NJ) and gave up the house for Anthony. They also will pay him more money now than if they waited until the off-season. Isiah Thomas somehow has to be involved, will this guy ever go away? All the players traded by the Knicks will now suffer as well. Hopefully, Felton will get dealt away soon. Ty Lawson and Felton would both see their stock sky rocket if the Nuggets can pull off another deal.

Potential Players on the Move: Andre Miller-Port, Devin Harris-NJ, Gerald Wallace-Char, Nene Hilario-Den, Ramon Sessions-Cleve, Troy Murphy-NJ, Stephen Jackson-Char, JR Smith-Den
